Little Joe y La Familia to Headline
City's Mother's Day Concert
The City of Las Cruces Parks & Recreation Department will host a Mother’s Day Concert at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Plaza de Las Cruces, 100 N. Main St.
The concert will be a free family event.
Headlining the Mother’s Day Concert is award-winning Tejano music legend Little Joe y La Familia. Country music star Rick Trevino will open the show.
During a more than 50-year performing and recording history, Little Joe y La Familia has become one of the most popular Tex-Mex bands in the music industry. Through decades the group has developed a unique style, imbuing its sound with a mix of Norteño, Country, Blues, and Rock. Described as “King of the Brown Sound” Jose Hernandez, “Little Joe,” helped pioneer Tejano music, winning five Grammy Awards along the way.
During the mid-90s, Rick Trevino emerged as one of the most popular Hispanic singers in Country music since the 70s, when Freddy Fender and Johnny Rodriquez were making hit records. Beginning with “She Can’t Say I Didn’t Cry” in 1994, Rick Trevino has had several hits with his blend of Country, Spanish, and Rock.
Join us in celebrating all the great mothers in our community with live music and dancing! Bring your beautiful mom, bring the family, and bring your chairs. Food trucks will be at the Plaza.
This free community concert is the start of the City’s live music season which continues with the Mayor’s Jazz Fest on May 29, kicking off the Parks & Recreation Department’s Music in the Park Series. The popular Music in the Park Series will feature performances by local, regional, and national acts every Sunday beginning Memorial Day weekend and continuing through August.
