Utility Customer Advisory Group (UCAG)
Natural Gas Rate Review
Las Cruces Utilities (LCU) is a City Department but is not funded by tax dollars. It’s been 10 years since LCU last reviewed natural gas rate charges. The current gas rate review reflects cost increases in wages and benefits, gas system maintenance and safety compliance, and vehicle and equipment maintenance and replacement. The three options are:
A full cost implementation of new rates in one year.
A limited phased-in cost increase for the two most impacted customer classes (small and large commercial) over three years.
A full phased-in cost increase for all customer classes over three years.
Community members encouraged to submit input, concerns, and questions to email@example.com

Who are the Members of UCAG?
The Utility Customer Advisory Group is a 5 member Ad Hoc Committee established in May 2016 by resolution and tasked with reviewing rates for all four utilities provided to customers by Las Cruces Utilities gas, water, wastewater, and solid waste. The committee is composed of five volunteer Las Cruces residents:
- Paul Royalty, Chair
- Elizabeth Bardwell, Vice Chair
- Frank D. Gomez
- John McElroy
- Robert Snyder
Why Should I Want to Know More?
Everyone uses utility services and pays utility rates, either by paying monthly Las Cruces Utilities bills directly or through rent. Water was the first utility rate to be reviewed, followed by wastewater, solid waste and finally gas.
