Las Cruces Public Art (LCPA) seeks an artist or art team to create an outdoor, site-specific, public art sculpture to be located on site at the soon-to-be built Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley (ASCMV), 3551 Bataan Memorial West, facility expansion.

- March 1 – Project Announced / Call for Entry opened
- March 31 – Submission Deadline
- April 23 – Complete First Phase of Jury Selection
- May (Date TBD) - Second Phase of Jury Selection
- TBD – Finalists’ written presentations due
- TBD - Finalists give in-person presentation of design and materials to Selection Committee
- TBD – Regular City Council Session to accept and announce the chosen design.
- TBD – Artwork will be completed and installed eight months from contract date.

The City Council passed Ordinance 2674 creating the City Art Board in 2013. The City Council passed Resolution 15-126 in 2014 establishing a dedicated funding source for the solicitation of artists, the procurement, installation and maintenance of current and future pieces of public art by setting aside 1 percent of the general fund in the Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The City Council approved Resolution 16-043 establishing the City Art Board’s Strategic Plan in 2015.
The City Art Board comprises seven volunteer members appointed by the Mayor with advice and consent of the City Council.
