[ARCHIVED] Water Line and Backflow Preventer Equipment Relocation Near Branigan Library

The City of Las Cruces is committed to improving customer service, safety, and keeping its facilities in proper shape. Public Works/Facilities Management has contracted with a local firm to relocate the incoming water line and backflow preventer equipment near the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library (N. Campo Street side). A backflow preventer keeps water moving in one direction after it is dispensed from the meter, preventing the water from re-entering the water supply.

Moving these items will create a safer access path for staff that use the walkway adjacent to the building which runs from the East entrance (on the N. Campo St. side) to the loading dock area to the south.

Work is expected to take place on September 9 and is expected to last one day. Water service to the building will need to be shut off for several hours during this time. The Library will be closed for the day, but will resume normal operational hours on Tuesday, September 10. In addition, the walkway adjacent to the Library near the N. Campo St. side of the work site will continue to be closed during this time. Signage and appropriate barriers will be placed where needed to address the safety of our customers and staff.
