Keep Las Cruces Beautiful (KLCB) focuses on the 3 Es: Education, Eradication and Enforcement. Our program is dedicated to keeping our city beautiful through:

  • Community recycling efforts
  • Graffiti eradication and prevention activities
  • Litter and weed control
  • Neighborhood and community-wide beautification projects

Community involvement is a key component of our program empowering the citizens of Las Cruces to take action in their neighborhoods.

KLCB has been in existence since 1991 and is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and New Mexico Clean and Beautiful

There are many opportunities for involvement under the KLCB umbrella.

Adopt a Spot

You are encouraged to take part in this exciting and Adopt a Spot Signinnovative program by adopting a portion of your neighborhood. From business districts to your own block, beautification and maintenance of your own spot can only benefit your community. Check out program information and sign up.


Great American CleanupGreat American Clean Up Volunteers

As an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, KLCB participates in the national cleanup event designed to end littering, improve recycling, and beautify our community. The event is held annually in April.


Toss No MasCleanup Volunteer Group

Keep Las Cruces Beautiful (KLCB), along with New Mexico Clean and Beautiful, hosts the annual Toss No Mas event in October. This event is a statewide initiative in partnership with New Mexico True.

KLCB also hosts the annual Reuse and Recycle Fashion Show in honor of Earth Day. Contestants must create clothing designs out of recycled materials. The competition is open to everyone, and the call for entries is announced prior to the fashion show which is showcased at the City's annual Earth Day event. 

Team Up to Clean Up!

The newest KLCB program is “Team Up to Clean Up!”, a beautification project to help enhance the quality of life in Las Cruces and reverse the process of neighborhood deterioration. Residents are encouraged to recruit their neighbors and clean up their neighborhood. Clean up events are scheduled per city district. KLCB will provide supplies such as bags, gloves, and specific locations, if needed. Find your district here and coordinate a neighborhood clean up soon! Libby the Green Dog

KLCB collaborates with Las Cruces Public Schools and the City of Las Cruces to bring Libby the Green Dog as an ambassador to educate youth in controlling litter, recycling, beautification, and reporting graffiti. Libby visits with classrooms in various schools to teach kids how to recycle and ways to prevent illegal dumping.

Recycling bin for bottles and cans2017 Coca-Cola/Keep America Beautiful Public Space Recycling Bin Grant

The City of Las Cruces was a recipient of the 2017 Coca-Cola Foundation/Keep America Beautiful Public Space Recycling Bin Grant, one of fifty organizations nationwide to receive this award. 

The City has established a public space recycling initiative for City events, athletic fields, parks, and walking trails with bins. Recycling education is a continuous effort by the City. Those collaborating on the Recycling Bin project are:

  • Keep America Beautiful
  • Parks and Recreation
  • South Central Solid Waste Authority, which coordinates the City recycling program
  • The Sustainability Office
  • Utilities - Solid Waste

The bins, which collect plastic bottles and aluminum cans, are located along the Triviz Multipurpose Path and Outfall Channel, and at Apodaca Park, Young Park, and Veterans Memorial Park. Download a map of bin locations (PDF).
